NBA offseason trading, signing constantly, there are players with high salary signing weak brigade, there are players with basic salary to join the strong team to become the championship puzzle. In the Reddit forum in the United States, American netizens raised soul torture for the recent NBA signing and trading:

If you are an NBA player, at the end of your career, do you want your career salary to be 0.1 billion dollars but no championship ring, or is your career salary only 30 million dollars but 2 championship rings?

The following is the comments of some American Netizens. After reading the comments of perfect netizens, bar friends are welcome to express their opinions in the comment area.

If your career earnings are 100m these days, you probably aren’t a number 1 option or HOF bound player. In that case, the legacy impact of winning a ring matters a lot less imo. 100m is more than 3x the money, sign me up.

Fans: In today’s league, if you earn only 0.1 billion dollars in your career, 80% of you are not the team’s top card or Hall of Fame player. Under this background, for players with a career salary of 30 million levels, winning the championship with their roles will not give them a big bonus in career achievements. Therefore, I choose to earn 0.1 billion without a crown and get more than 3 times more money! If you agree, I will go up!

[-]Maverickscautious-opulence 969 points 11 hours ago

And if they are 30m in earnings, no one will even remember they won 2 rings

Lone Ranger fans: and for players with a career salary of 30 million levels, even if they win 2 championships, no one will remember them…

(Bar friends: guess who he is and which team he won the championship with in which year)

[-]Necessary_Bass_7127 71 points 11 hours ago

This right here. Rings only matter if you have the potential to go down as an all time great. As a role player, winning rings comes down to how good your best players are.

A more accurate scenario would be… .500m lifetime earnings with 0 rings or 400m lifetime earning with 2 rings. Think of the pay cut bron took to join the heat.

Fans: That’s right! Only when you have the potential to enter the best category in history can the championship become an important achievement bonus. And if you are just a role player, the championship just shows how powerful your team is, and it’s nothing to do with you at all. So I think it would be better to adjust the options to this way: career salary 0.5 billion but no Crown VS career salary 0.4 billion get 2 crown. You can refer to James’s salary reduction and joining the Heat in that year.

Note: In 2010, James joined the Heat with a six-year non-top salary contract of 0.11 billion dollars.

I’m pretty sure most players dream of winning a championship their whole lives and are highly competitive people who are driven to win because it matters deeply to themselves and their teammates, not just because of their legacy with the fans and media.

Fan: I am sure that most players dream of becoming the championship! They are all very competitive people, and they are very competitive! Winning and winning the championship is a belief engraved into their bones for themselves and their teammates, not simply for their fame and reputation in the fans and the media!

[-]thcsquad 9 points 6 hours ago

I was thinking this. These players are in the NBA because they are competitive as hell. Then again, if we are quizzing reddit poasters instead of actual NBA players it makes sense for them to beeline right for the money.

Fans: I think so too! The reason why these players can break into NBA is because of their extraordinary competitive heart and desire! And let’s look at it again. Who is the question now? The question is not NBA players, but our bar friends, right? As ordinary people, bar friends will directly choose to earn 0.1 billion without crown, which is completely understandable!

[-]PistonsMintyFreshBreathYo 8 points 6 hours ago

I ‘d argue most NBA players are in the NBA because they learned at an early age being tall, and athletic can lead them to millions of dollars if they work at it. It’s like any other job

Piston fans: I doubt it! Many NBA players stand out from the crowd when they are very young, and they have already understood a truth: as long as they practice hard, extraordinary athletic ability can make them earn millions of dollars in the future! Therefore, NBA players, like any other ordinary job, earn money ~

For an extra 70M I would windmill dunk on our own basket to lose the finals.

Knicks fans: I’m not blowing! If I don’t win the championship, can I earn 70 million dollars more? What is the undercover finals? I played rim dunks directly at my own big windmill in the finals!!

[-]SteveGoldenG 1673 points 14 hours ago

You are absolutely a legend bro

Fans: Big Brother, you are really a strange person!!!

[-]ProfessorPetrus 3 points 9 hours ago

Y’all going to spend it all on security after windmill dunking on your own team in the finals lol.

Fans: it won’t pass! Dare to play rim dunks at his own big windmill in the finals. The big brother earned all the money to hire bodyguards to save his life!! Ha ha ha!!

[-]Suns_the_chosen_juan_ 84 points 11 hours ago

Lol seriously is this even a question? Gimme that MF money

Sun fans: ha ha ha!! Is this a problem? Give me the fucking money!!

[-]Grizzliesdrokihazan 34 points 10 hours ago

Anyone who chooses 30M and 2 rings is straight up braindamaged.

It’s not even remotely a contest.

Grizzly Bear fans: those who choose 30 million +2 crowns are pure brain-dead! These two options are not comparable at all!!

[-]Trail BlazersDauntless_Idiot 7 points 6 hours ago

$30M is more money than most people can possible ever need in their lifetime unless they make some extremely poor decisions or some extremely bad luck/health outcomes.

I don’t think an extra $70m adds that much value, but since I don’t care that much about rings it actually does add more value for myself than two rings.

Trailblazers fans: unless you mess around or get bad or get sick, most people can’t spend $30 million alone in their whole lives!! Therefore, giving you 70 million dollars more will not add much extra value to the actual life… However, I don’t have much obsession with the championship, so for me, more than $70 million is more valuable than two champions.

[-]Bucksquedfoot 49 points 9 hours ago

If I’m 19 and ambitious, I’m taking the 30 mil and 2 rings. Now that I’m 29 and have gone through some serious problems, I’m only looking out for myself and family, I’m taking 100 mil no doubt.

Bucks fans: If I am still 19 years old and ambitious and full of chicken soup, then I will choose 30 million dollars +2 crowns. But now I am 29 years old and have already encountered some painful experiences. Now I only think about myself and my family in everything I do, so I will choose 0.1 billion dollars +0 crown, don’t even think about it ~ ~

[-]NuggetsAny_Adhesiveness_898 3 points 3 hours ago

You and your family wouldn’t be set on $30M?

Nuggets fans: Upstairs, 30 million dollars is not enough for your family?

[-]jtruth9 66 points 13 hours ago

So Dillon Brooks or Kevon Looney?

Fans: in short, you choose to be Dillon Brooks or Kevin Luni, right?

[-]Trail Blazerslikpoper 84 points 14 hours ago

100 mln of course.. rings are useless unless you are one of the main guys. Like who the fuck gives a shit about Adam Morrison having a ring

Pioneer fans: of course, choose 0.1 billion dollars ~~ unless you are the key figure in the winning team, the ring is useless to you ~~ it seems… Who cares about Adam Morrison’s championship ring ~ ~ ~

(Adam Morrison won the championship with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010)

[-]Heatvincemeister55 11 points 13 hours ago

30M but it depends if whether Im a rotational piece ala Shane Battier and not a bench bum like Quinn Cook.

Heat fans: I can choose 30 million dollars, but it also depends on the rotating players in the I am winning team, such as Sean Battier, rather than the water dispenser manager like Quine cook…

(2012 heat champion line up)

(Cook won the championship with the Lakers in 2020)

[-]MundaneTonight437 67 points 11 hours ago

30M is so much money of you can’t live off that happily you need to check yourself. I ‘d take 30 and two rings. Imagine the fucking memories. Crazy thing about NBA is you had to win your conference with a best of 7 then win the whole thing with a best of 7. It’s an insane run that must have so much joy involved. Going to battle with your boys not once, but twice to claim the ultimate crown. 2 rings and 30M for me please…

Fans: with a sum of 30 million dollars, if you are still unhappy, you have to check whether you are wrong! I am will choose 30 million dollars +2 crowns! Think about what it feels like to have those awesome memories of winning the championship! The awesome thing about winning the championship in NBA is that you have to pass a series of 7 games and 4 wins to become the division champion first; Finally, you have to win in a series of 7 games and 4 wins to become the championship! Such a journey is awesome, it must be very interesting!! And you will go on more than one championship journey with your comrades, twice! Give me two champions and 30 million dollars, please ~ ~ ~ ~

I’m almost 40 years old. And at this stage of my life I think I ‘d take the experience and memories over the additional $70m.

In my early 30s, I got a huge break in my career, and my earnings put me into a very comfortable and borderline luxurious lifestyle.

The increase in earnings is at most a temporary level of happiness and absolutely does not do anything for sustained happiness.

Depression still exists, anxiety still exists. And the emotion of happiness is the same feeling as when I was less well off. When Elon Musk or Bill Gates feel happiness, it isn’t any different than myself in any way. It’s the same hit of dopamine.

I think winning two rings will deliver something money can’t which is the fulfillment of accomplishing a life long dream.

Raptors fans: I am almost 40 years old. At my age, I care more about those rare life experiences and memories than taking $70 million more ~ ~

I remember when I was in my early 30 s, I jumped to the sky at work. The money I earned at that time made me live a very comfortable and even almost luxurious life. However, the happiness brought by the increase of income is only temporary and cannot be sustained at all. Depression and anxiety still exist. However, the happiness I could feel at that time was actually the same when I had no money ~~ just like the happiness that Musk and Bill Gates could get, I could also get it, which was the product of dopamine.

What can be brought by winning the two champions, the satisfaction of achieving the long-cherished wish of a lifetime, is beyond the reach of money ~ ~

[-]AdhesivenessLucky896 36 points 11 hours ago

Exactly. I don’t know what other people live for. It’s so weird. With the 30 mil, your next couple generations should be solid too with average market investments. You did your job. You can live in a pretty nice place and vacation whenever you wanted. The memories from 2 rings are priceless. That stays with people for a lifetime and the fans will remember too every time they see you. Ask Kenny Smith about his two rings with Rockets. People here are just whores.

Fans: That’s right! I don’t understand what other people (those who choose 0.1 billion dollars) live for. It’s so strange! If you have 30 million dollars, according to the average rate of return on investment in the market, you don’t have to worry about the future generations of your children! As long as you manage the money well, you can live in a mansion and go anywhere you want to go for vacation! The memories of the two champions journey are priceless. These wonderful memories will follow you for a lifetime, and every time the fans see you, they will immediately recall that period of time! Ask Kenny Smith and his two championship experiences in rockets! The people in this post are all hussy at the sight of money!

[-]BucksBot_Name1 4 points 8 hours ago

It’s not about it being a status thing. It would mean that I can take care of my family no problem for generations.

Bucks fans: everyone will choose 0.1 billion dollars, not that this is a money-loving society ~~ but that I can take better care of my family and let my children and grandchildren have no worries about food and clothing ~

[-]MundaneTonight437 9 points 7 hours ago

I hear you….but you can with 30M as well lol….its so much money. PLus with 2 rings you can make mroe money after through endorsments you wont get without the rings.

Fans: I know what you mean… But 30 million dollars can make you feel free for a few lives. Ha ha ha… Besides, after winning two championships, you can earn more money through some advertising endorsement. If there is no champion, you may not earn the money ~

[-]Spursyungsantaclaus 24 points 14 hours ago

Were you a superstar and the clear best player on the two rings? Were they Dirk 2011, Hakeem 1994-1995, Duncan 2003 rings? Or were they Pippen rings? Were they role player rings?

Spurs fans: are the two champions mentioned here the most critical players in the championship journey? Is it Nowitzki in 2011? Is it olajuwang from 1994 to 1995? Was it Duncan in 2003? Or even Pippen? Or do we just win the championship as role players?

[-]thommonator 21 points 12 hours ago

This is a key question. Some rings are worth a lot more than others – would I give up half of my career earnings to be THE guy for a Knicks or 76ers and carry them to a title? Probably money can’t buy that legendary status and you’ll be financially secure off the back of the rings anyway. But to sit on a bench playing a peripheral role, meh – get that bag. So I might do it to be Nowitzki, but not to be Juan Toscano Anderson.

Fans: Yes, this is a very critical issue! Some champions are indeed more precious. Do you ask me if I am willing to give up half of my career income to become the leader in leading the Knicks or 76 people to win the championship? I am probably willing to, because money cannot buy this legendary life and status. Of course, after you win the championship in this capacity, you don’t have to worry about your subsequent income.

But if you let me sit on the bench and win the championship as a role player? Then I don’t want it. I ‘d rather have the 0.1 billion dollars! Let me take 30 million to be the winner of Nowitzki, I may be willing! But let me take 30 million as the champion Toscano Anderson, I don’t want it!

(In 2011, Nowitzki led the Mavericks to win the championship)

(Anderson won the championship with the Warriors in 2022)

30m and two rings. Money can be lost legacy is forever.

Fans: I choose 30 million dollars +2 crowns, and the money will be lost, but I will always be known!

[-]Lakersthechort7 11 points 9 hours ago

Money can be lost, that’s why it’s better to have more of it.

Lakers fans: it is because money will be lost, so we ‘d better take more and better ~ ~ ~
